A graduate of the Fine Arts Program at the Paier
College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut, Maryanne Maier has also taken painting workshops in Paris, France; Provence, France;
Florence, Italy; New Mexico, Laguna Beach, California; many places in New England and most recently in Costa Del Sol, Spain.
Painting
mostly in acrylics, Maryanne has exhibited and won awards in juried shows throughout New England, New York and in Florida.
These juried shows include the Sarasota Art Center; and in Massachusetts the Rockport Art Association, and the Academic
Artists Association in Springfield. In Connecticut, the National League for American Pen Women, Connecticut Woman Artists,
Paint and Clay, Brush and Palette, Milford Fine Arts and the Connecticut Classic Arts. In New York the Catherine
Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, Audubon Artists, National Arts Club, Hudson Valley and Salmagundi (oldest professional art club
in the country.) Here she won a major award for a seascape and was one of the first women voted into membership when they
opened their doors to women. Listed in "Who's Who in American Art", Maryanne
divides her time between her home on St. Armands Key, Sarasota, Florida and her summers at Anchor Beach in Woodmont, Connecticut.
Maryanne has won most of her awards for
her seascapes having lived near the sea all her life. "My paintings are my attempt, not only to preserve what my eye
sees, but what my heart feels."
